Nathan from Allstar Weekend was nice enough to spend some time answering our questions so we could share with the viewers of our site. Learn more about this new band signed to Hollywood Records.
K&K: Can you please introduce yourself to our readers, and your role in the group?
Nathan- lead guitar, Cameron- bass, Zach- vocals, Michael- drummer
K&K: How did you get started in the music industry?
Nathan: Our kick-off in the music industry all started when we were handing out flyers at the El Capitan Theater, in Hollywood and a casting director from Disney happened to be there. We handed her a flyer and the next day we got an e-mail from her saying that she wanted us to be in this contest called "The next big thing". From there, we had our songs played on Radio Disney and surprisingly gained a lot of recognition from listeners.
K&K: How did you first come together as a group?
Nathan: The group basically started out of a friendship. We were all friends in high school. Zach and I got together one day and decided to start laying down tracks in my bedroom. After a year and a half of that, we got tired of recording and took are songs to the stage. That’s when Cameron and Michael came into the picture.
K&K: What has influenced you musically?
Nathan: We’re influenced by stories that we shared in high school, and strangely enough the Shrek 1 soundtrack. We were obsessed with all the songs on that CD because, it gave us a sense of urgency to write fun, synthy, melodic, feel good tunes that allow you to escape the real world and let loose.
K&K: What’s your favorite song to perform?
Nathan: My favorite song to perform live is "A different side of me". It's one of those songs that never has a dull moment, and it says a lot about us.
K&K: If you could tour with anyone who would that be?
Nathan: I would love to tour with Weezer.
K&K: What does the next year look like for you?
Nathan: In this next year, you can expect an album release sometime in June, some touring, and hopefully some other fun stuff.
K&K: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Nathan: Ultimately, I would hope to see us all together. But, if you asked me 2 years ago where I’d think I’d be, I never would guessed I’d be signed to Hollywood records, or even shoot a music video at a castle.
K&K: Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
Nathan: If I were to leave our fans with some useful advice, I’d tell them that whether or not you want to be a musician or a doctor, if you have your mind set on what you want, then you shouldn't let anything get in the way, you’re always going hit a road block at some point. But that doesn't mean you should stop there. Life is always going to throw curve balls, so it's up to you if you want to step up to the plate.
K&K: You just released some tour dates on your MySpace, tell us about that?
Nathan: We just posted tour dates up on our MySpace. The tour is called "Experience the Magic Tour". It starts March 6th, and it's going to be hosted by Hannah Montana's Emily Osment.
